America’s love affair with weight loss diets and energy drinks continues unabated. With sky rocketing obesity rates, love of fried foods and sugary drinks, and plenty of leisurely time in front of Television sets, “smart” diets and energy drinks businesses are ever more successful in marketing their products.

Atkins diet, Low Carbohydrate meals, low glycemic index meals, low fat or no fat diets continue to be aggressively marketed to weight conscious and obese customers alike.

Similarly energy drink brand names like Red Bull have become just as famous as Gillette, Ford and GE.

The energy drinks on market are either cocktails of various low chain carbohydrates which rapidly get absorbed in blood and raise glucose levels thus providing temporary euphoria, or cocktails of vitamins and herbs like ginseng etc which are less taxing on the body during short term, but the long term health effects of such high vitamin drinks is unknown.

It is possible that in future ancient Chinese and Indian medical and nutritional traditions might play an increasing role in determining the composition of energy drinks.

For example, several beverage and diet food oriented businesses have already started toying with the idea of including green tea extracts, flavinoids, and Indian Ayurvedic and herbal potions into their drinks to provide energy euphoria to their customers.

As obesity rates continue to march upwards and American society continues to age and become less healthy, the weight loss diet and energy drink businesses will expand their market presence and achieve greater success by aggressively marketing Chinese, Indian and other exotic origin recipes to their customers to help them achieve a more desirable physique, better energy levels, and sounder health.

Possibilities of adding some western ingredients to Indian Ayurvedic mixtures and recipes and then patenting them for exclusive sales and marketing provides an excellent growth opportunity for health and weight loss oriented food and drink industry.
