Exercise Tips That Help You Stay On Target

It’s hard for anyone who starts an exercise program. It doesn’t matter if you are joining a gym or going at it alone. It is easy to fall of the wagon and have a hard time jumping back on that wagon. Take these tips and put them to use to help you on your road to getting in shape.

It is essential that you set realistic goals for yourself. Start small and work your way up to your goal. No one is perfect and every one stumbles at times when they are trying to get into shape. If you start off with the mind set that you have to do exercise everyday, and you have never done more than walking, chances are you are going fail before you get started.

Have an effective routine. You need a cardio workout once a day for 60 minutes. Hold on, don’t freak out. You do not have to do that all at one time. Break it down throughout the day, 20 minutes three times a day for example. And you need some strength training maybe twice a week for 15-20 minutes a day.

Probably the most important tip is to be consistent in your exercise program. Think about it like brushing your teeth or taking a shower everyday. It will eventually become second nature. No exercise program will work if you are not consistently doing it.

Pick something that you are happy doing. If you love to dance, get some dance exercise DVD’s. They have some really great programs out now for dance exercises. You do not have to join a gym to get into shape. If you decide to go to a gym or join a program, make sure it is convenient for you. If it is not, chances are you will not stick with the program.
