A Simply Healthy Diet

Humans make an amazingly complicated mess of eating. Forever searching for the best diet, we adopt plan after plan, trying desperately to eat healthy and maintain a healthy weight. It really doesn’t need to be as difficult as we make it. A little common sense and a lot of listening to our bodies will help us land in the right diet corner.

First, the Listening Part

We feel horrible when we overindulge or eat sugary, fatty foods and great when we eat small portions of whole foods. By paying attention to what our body is trying to say, healthy eating is simple. So why do we ignore the good advise we are giving ourselves?  The simplified version is that we eat to feel good and sometimes we choose the quick fix, the counter-productive choice.  We can do better.

Common Sense Eating

Getting on the right track, diet wise, is not hard at all. You can do it in 3 easy steps:

1. Start with a simple fast. Fasting is a very healthy way to get back on track with your eating. It momentarily breaks the cycle of bad eating and gives your system a chance to right itself. Only fast if you are healthy and have no contraindications.
2. Familiarize yourself with whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Learn how to prepare and serve them, making a goal to include them more frequently in your meal plan.
3.Get rid of sugar and bad fats in your diet. Replace them with sweet fruit and fats such as olive or canola oil. Eat walnuts, pecans, and hazelnuts.

Listen to yourself. Eat well and feel better.
